    see --superficial optics.  Unfortunately, "appearances are deceiving," so the instinct-driven often go wrong.  Being wrong is very upsetting and makes them feel insecure.  So they resort to braggadocio and make fools of themselves to preempt being taken as fools. It's what, in the interest of preserving some shred of pride, they have to do.

    If you can see clearly and feel confident, thank the Lord and move on. It's not nice to dis the distressed.
