Paul Johnson was busted by the Great Depression. He was a modest man, a typewriter repair man. He probably invested too heavily in the "boom" of the twenties. Before the Depression he had a small house and a Model T him and Grace would drive up to Wisconsin from Chicago.

Never again. They rented housing and took the bus wherever they needed to go. He usually walked to the shop and and all appeared fine.

Around 1970 they moved to California where my Aunt had moved. Rented a double wide in Workman City. On his death they found 2,000 cans of canned food to insure (at least in his mind) Paul and Grace would have  something to eat.

These Hard Times being promoted by the Republicans will have long term effects on all of us. Time to fight back.
