  •  That's not really what's happening here (0+ / 0-)

The diarist is essentially panicking because of this apparent 'crisis' and makes no real effort to analyze what exactly is going wrong here. In fact, the diarist basically still believes the original fundamental beliefs, just thinks they should be suspended because we are in a crisis.

    •  why don't you ask him/her that question? (5+ / 0-)

Ask it point blank and see what s/he says.

As for panic, probably 60% of diaries at any given time are pure emotionalism: panic or rage or depression or grief or more rarely, peace, love, and happiness.

There was even a note of joy last night, over the election results in France.   Hopefully there'll be a much bigger after our own election.

All of that stuff is valuable to the extent that it builds community and solidarity and motivates people to action.   Often it's valuable in helping the afflicted individuals to work through whatever is making them miserable, and appeal to the community for support, and get the support they're seeking.

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.

      You're a psychologist and a mind reader.

      How much do you charge?

"Apparent" crisis?  Do you live in the Hamptons?  Get outside and observe.

    •  Go to Europe and see the US and tell them... (0+ / 0-)

...their crisis is only "apparent."  That they're overly emotional.
