    The internet has made broadcast television/cable increasingly irrelevant.

    Young people might be as much of couch potatoes as their parents, but they're using their laptop or smart phone to watch whatever they like - without commercials.

      But then I got DSL instead of dial-up, then fiberoptic.  Nowdays the TV stays off except for a few shows that I make a point to watch. Now I have E-Books, Netflix streaming, Hulu, all the YouTube like sites, and so much more - WTF would I want to go back to fifty channels with 20 minutes of commercials during each hour and cable channels that have shifted their programming in search of money (Discovery, TLC and Sci-Fi to name a few)?  I'm not paying $80 a month for shows with commercials, fuck that.  Back in the old days, you got cable so you wouldn't have to watch commercials!
