  •  Lurch showed politeness, loyalty to family, (23+ / 0-)

grace and resolve under pressure, acceptance and tolerance of a wide range of differences, but also knew when to draw the line and step in to support the needs of his household, especially when that need was to firmly remove any dysfunctional 'normal' meddling humans from the premises, or the occasional out of control horrific pests.

Lurch is better looking and more intelligent than Paul Ryan, and knows when to say little as well as when to make a short but on target pithy remark  Lurch puts a tall heap of dry into understated dry humor, delivered with funeral home sensitivity and decorum, minimalistic phrasing and precise timing, and gut rumbling honesty.  Lurch's intentions are impeccable, caring, and honest.  You can see it even when he cares for small creatures as well as large, especially those for whom 'normal' folks have little regard.  Lurch would listen when no one else would.  He might regard it as hooey, but he'd give everyone his shot at explaining their concerns and business.  Lurch has many admirable qualities which makes me believe that at heart his is a true liberal.

No, Paul Ryan is no Lurch, but maybe, just maybe, he is Lurch's cursed, twisted, evil twin or cousin, and perhaps he had the misfortune of ending up under the thrall of some Republican witchdoctor, and now walks as one of the undead and has a wake of zombies in his path.  That would sort of explain that eery feeling of being on pins and needles whenever seeing his visage, am I right? It's hard to push away that feeling that something dark and macabre is oozing somewhere behind his smiling banal speeches and glistening teeth, speeches which seem always to be about taking away more from those who least can afford to lose anything more, and adding to the bounty of the rich, and treating that as if it's the Divine Order of The World.  Lurch never, ever made me feel like that.
