  •  Repubs have the money in Texas. (6+ / 0-)

That's a huge equalizer in a state with that many media markets.

If Obama doesn't deserve credit for getting Bin Laden because he didn't pull the trigger, Bin Laden doesn't deserve the blame for 9-11 because he didn't fly the planes.

and sadly, our state Democratic machine hasn't been aggressive enough in promoting candidates that would have a good shot (Noriega is just one example). Even in statewide races that would really make a difference, like for Attorney General, we just don't seem to have the mobilization.

    •  Republicans in Texas have spent years and years (10+ / 0-)

decimating the Texas Democratic "money sources."  Anti-labor laws.  "Tort Reform" was pushed to let off big business, yes, but also fiercely fought for so as to punish "trial lawyers" which were strong Democratic supporters.  There are many other ways in which the Republicans have been stacking the deck for many years - back to the 1990s when W was governor. ugh.  Rove is the master of "screw them in every way."
