      "a bank account" in the Cayman Is, although having a bank account is not in any way illegal, unless you don't report it to the IRS. It saves US citizens no taxes to have foreign accounts, they are taxed the same as domestic accounts.

      He doesn't own the Caymans partnership anymore than I own the underlying assets of a corporation whose stock I own through a mutual fund in my 401k.

      We could characterize it as an indirect, fractional ownership, but to say he owns it is a real stretch.
