  •  Is this a postion where an examination of the (4+ / 0-)

candidates religion is appropriate since Romney's religion is inserting itself into the political process.   How much of that LDS financial support of Prop 8 came from Romney's 10% tithe to the Church?

In a legal showdown between a civil rights equal marriage action and the teachings of the Mormon Church, would Romney come down on the side of the civil law or the teachings of his Church (which while a substantial religion, is far from a mainstream belief)?  This is not a religious test per se, but an question of how deeply the changeable religious tenets of the LDS Church (the prophets get different revelations from God on a regular basis in the LDS Church) will influence Presidential agendas and public policy should Romney be elected.

    •  iirc, his tax returns reflected a 19% tithing (4+ / 0-)

to his church. Almost 2x the minimum. Why? Tax write off, church elder requirment, fight "teh gay" or whatever reason, RMoney's "charitable" tax deductions are being used to ban some Americans from equal treatment under the law. Period.

Are we ever going to remove tax exemption status from those churches who try to influence polictical agendas?
