  •  I don't trust religions (4+ / 0-)

or religious people. I don't trust anyone who believes in something they can't prove with evidence.

I've been burned too many times by religion and religious people to ever trust a religious person again. Go ahead and say "But the Episcopal Church..." that's fine, but they haven't stopped the problem. It's still there.

Religious people come out to the polls in droves to make me a nonperson, religious people do their best to undermine my life's work in science, and you ask me not to hate them?

    That's an order I can't fill. Sorry.

Distrust of a group of people can lead to hatred.

Be careful that you do not become what you dislike the most in others.

This is my last response to this thread

May you find some inner peace through the path of your choice.

      •  I already am what I dislike in others (0+ / 0-)

        I admit that.

But what I dislike most in religious people is that they believe in the existence of something they can't prove exists. And then they act on that belief.

That's not cool. It's not okay. It offends me. It frightens me. Accepting it is not an option.

I have very good, concrete, REAL reasons to distrust religions and religious people. The number of people who are openly religious whom I actually trust, across my entire life, I can count on the fingers of one hand. One of them is dead - my father. All the rest I've known have stabbed me in the back in some way, and it was always their religion that drove them to do it.

        You're asking too much.
