    does not personally affect you is not remotely similar to going through an intense personal struggle over who you are, having heard rejection and disdain all around you since the day you were born.

    Pretty much, that's it.  

    Obama did not "come out." He changed his mind.

    I am very happy he changed his mind.  I'm glad he did a direct interview on TV to let the nation know what he was thinking.  I think it is about time he changed his mind.  I appreciate very much that he made this effort, after the set-up had been made by Biden and that disgusting person.  I don't think it was an accident that trial balloons were released to prepare the way for Obama's mind changing.

    All of that to say:  Great that he did it! (and obviously, this was calculated every step of the way. what isn't these days?)

    But Obama didn't do anything remotely like what "coming out" is for a LGBT person.
