  •  farang... as a confirmed gun hating liberal (none)
i have to tell you that i have been thinking of buying a shotgun... or a rifle.

i loathe guns - and i have been thinking about it... so folks, before you call this a "tinfoil hat" reaction....

farang is expressing a genuine fear of our government becoming NOT our government - something our worst nightmares can only begin to comprehend.

i just re-read most of 1984 - couldn't bear to finish it - realized that we are so close to "being there" that is hurts.

if every liberal gun "hater" bought arms - uh, maybe it WOULD shake up a few right wingers - maybe it WOULD force them back further into their holes - it would say at least one thing - that people are noticing the hijacking of america.

and this thought is coming from a new yorker in the times of that fool bernie goetz who opened fire on a group of blacks in a subway simply because he thought they "looked at him funny" - and he got away with it.  i was for gun control - harsher penalties, etc.  none of which have been enacted.

so, what IS our choice?  to do nothing?  to allow only one side of this political disaster to have an armed militia?  is america really worth fighting for if it ever came to an all out civil war (not that i'm suggesting one... but in the 1800's, many people didn't foresee that one either).

is this outside the realm of reality?  i don't know.  but i do know that when the man tried to break into my home in the middle of the night, i borrowed a shotgun - not to defend me, but if the man reaced me, he would have to hurt those i loved, then all bets were off.

it was a stark adjustment for me to have a loaded shotgun beside my bed.  but, it was there to protect those i loved.

IF, just IF a civil war ever occurred again in america, would we be willing to fight to protect the america we love?  this is just food for thought and to support farang in his reaction to a very real threat to our democracy.

i really DO understand where he is coming from (dangling participle aside....)

    •  and for one more thought on this subject... (none)
how many people who have actively protested this government are now banned from attending "rallys" that "support" the president.

how many of us who post here on kos actually think, in the new times of "homeland security" that we would actually pass the "permit" test to own a firearm down the road.

just a wee morsel to chew on... food for thought.

i already have a cousin on a no-fly list because he was involved in a pirate radio station protesting such organizations as the wto... he disagrees with the government, so he MUST be a terrorist?

watch for further limitation of rights coming to a state near or including you .....
