    My  younger brother was gay, and my dad gave me the mission to protect him in elementary school, from the bullies.

    It was unpleasant, and I will not go into the details.

    He died in 1992 (of AIDS as you might expect) and it was the saddest day of my life.

    For me also, the experience of dealing with bullies has had a lifelong effect. I always speak out against bullying or homophobia, and I have a lifelong affinity for the  underdog.

    As you might expect I was not planning to vote for Romney, but this bullying story about him has certainly reinforced my opinions of the GOP and their candidate.
