    It is always difficult to find the words to say when I hear or read this story. As a dumb white boy I first heard it from a a friend in high school in the 50s. Her ancestors had been on the trail of tears. She knew the story in great detail about her ancestors as it had been pasted by the telling down to her. It was so sad I did not then and do not now know what to say. She told it in a personal way with names and descriptions of her people.  It has left our nation with a stain that is forever.
