  •  Interesting hypothesis. (0+ / 0-)

But any hypotheses should be based on the original text (which in this case would be written in ancient Greek as far as I know) and not a translation done more than a thousand years later in an entirely different cultural context, and possibly second-hand from an earlier Latin translation. You'd need to be well familiar with the culture, literature and vernacular of the time and day as well.

By the way, what if I proposed that "eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake" is a reference to that one goddess cult (Ceres I think) which encouraged men to self-castrate? There may have been the idea to introduce something like that instead of celibate.

The colonization and conquest of the Americas was primarily done with  technological superiority.  Bows and arrows against guns and cannons.
This is completely wrong. A well-trained archer was far superior to gunmen in the early days of colonization. It was diseases which wiped out the Native Americans.
And not all American societies were tolerant. Maybe in North America they were, but in the Inca empire, as far as I read, male homosexuality carried the death penalty.

Freedom is not just a word. 'Freedom' is a noun.
