    They word the question to describe in clear terms the two-pronged tax hike, and the question explicitly calls it part of "Governor Brown's spending plan."  And yet these same respondents who disapprove of Brown 31-58 still approve of his tax hike by 54-37.  And the tax hike question was the fourth question, after several (Brown job approval; state economy right direction/wrong track) that could bias respondents against the tax hike.

    So the tax hike question had everything going against it in this survey, and yet still gets blowout-margin support.
