    ....New Hampshire is already moving away from Romney rather dramatically.  My sense is that if he's underperforming McCain in New Hampshire, he will be in the rest of the region as well.  With that said, you're right that the difference between Obama's strength in battleground states versus his comparative weakness nationally has to be coming from somewhere.  My guess is it's a combination of a lack of consolidated Obama support in blue states and most Southern and Appalachian states being redder than they were in 2008.  I suspect the consolidation of Obama support in blue states will ultimately happen, however....and I still believe Obama's November margin nationally will look very similar to his 2008 margin.

      I do think New Hampshire will tighten as Romney sews up Republican support, but I think President Obama improves in Arizona, North Carolina, and possibly Missouri, helping to offset any Romney overperformance in the Northeast or Upper Midwest.
