I didn't originally like the "Brewster Rockit" cartoon, but I now see it as the best commentary on the "sciffy" world (said as a former science-fiction writer and member of SFWA - now SFFWA - till I finally couldn't put up with the audience). Today they did the best thing "sci-fi" does: comment on today.

The doctor has discovered a new particle "mo-rons" which create stupidity.  They discover that Brewster is his own "mo-ron" field (surprisesurprise), and then discover an even larger field of "mo-rons," so large that common sense cannot escape from its gravitational field.

Cut to: a picture of the US Capitol.

As Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) said 130 years go:  "Consider an idiot.  Then consider a congressman.  Ah, but I repeat myself."

William Goldman was right when he said the three rules of Hollywierd are "1) Nobody, 2) knows, 3) anything." Works in the real world, too.
