    within the last couple days, pollsters are down to a 9% response rate, which suggests that they're only polling a population that may not be broadly representative.

      I have a touch of a cold and needed my sleep. So even people who might at other times be willing to take a polling call (and I do think I'm more likely to talk to a person than a recording) will hang up sometimes.

      polling is probably the most accurate.

      When Harry Reid was being shown behind his race in 2010 against Sharron Angle by everyone, he still won by 5 points.

      After the election, both the Reid and Angle campaigns said their internal polls always showed Reid up.  The internal polls spend more money and make a better effort to reach people, calling back.  The public polls do not go to that effort and cost less.

      I would take my cues from the campaigns--they know the best.
