and the GOPers took the house in 2010 and since then we can't even get the debt ceiling raised without it being a fight, each one taking more out of the political capital coffers.

so I ask again, where on the pecking order does this issue belong relative to all the other priorities and political stances this president can take in an election year?

    •  As far as I'm concerned this *is* important (1+ / 0-)

and given that it isn't a campaign killer as some are frantically suggesting I'd say that alleviating the pain and suffering of sick or dying people is rather important.  And that's what these raids are denying people, medicine.

If it is so unimportant how is this going to lose the election?  Are loads of people really going to turn out to oppose Obama because some folks in Oakland didn't get raided by the feds.

There revolution will not be televised. But it will be blogged, a lot. Probably more so than is necessary.

good framing, yet the news about med mj arrests always..wait...ALWAYS include other charges where operators do something that justifies that harshness.
Implications and claims of commercial sales and  the like are part of the plan.

passionately care about this issue are not seeing the political risks it still caries. and I am saying that my support of the policy change is reflected in the polls you cite, but that my concerns about the political risks to the WHOLE progressive agenda are not captured by those polls.

in an environment where common sense economic stimulus can be turned against the POTUS who stopped an economy in free fall, there is nothing that can't be turned into a political weapon. this issue certainly can and anyone who wants to proceed with it without acknowledging the risks is kidding themselves.
