  •  I am white and live in the richest county ... (0+ / 0-)

... in Tennessee, Williamson, which skews 70 percent Republican to 30 percent Democratic voters. For the Super Tuesday primary, I was required to show a photo ID in addition to my "official" voter registration card. What's weird is that my photo ID is my driver license, which shows my previous address in Davidson County and not my current address. The law here requires that one only notify the Dept of Safety of change of addresses, but your driver license does not need to show this information. A new license is not sent. Moreover, the current law also exempts people over 60 from having photos from their licenses, unless they ask for a photo license when renewing. So there basically is no logic or consistency in this ALEC-inspired voter ID law ... except voter suppression.

Ah, my friends from the prison, they ask unto me, "how good, how good does it feel to be free? " And I answer them most mysteriously, "are birds free from the chains of the skyway? " (Bob Dylan)
