There is zero chance that any person, cop or otherwise, could convince me to play any role whatsoever in the bombing of an Obama headquarter. I'd report the conversation to the police asap, absolutely no question. Wouldn't you? Or would you be a "victim" and fall into the trap?

and their police handlers say things that aren't true?

Until they present solid evidence that these people were actually plotting these specific activities, anything is suspect.

but that is not what this diary or most of the comments are saying. People here are already convinced that these guys were set up and are totally innocent. There is no factual basis for that belief. It's just based on rooting for the home team.

Sowing seeds of distrust, after all, is part of the state security apperatus' mission.

Good for you for having some empathy, too.  Of course something like this would never happen to you.  Until some under cover cop says otherwise.

I guess I don't have to ask why you would report a conversation concerning burning down an office rented by Obama's campaign, but not any other place.  Maybe you should ask why the police agents suggested that particular place in Obama's home town in the first place.  You would almost think it was designed to cause the most outrage  on the eve of NATO protests.

Nah, that could never happen in a town who's police department once murdered Black Panthers as they slept in their beds.
