Early voting for the party primaries: I happen to be driving by the county offices on the way to the local library to check out some new books.  I noticed that there were several cars in the parking lot. Having not voted yet, I pull into the parking lot (3:00 PM on a Sunday), just out of curiosity.  Sure enough the doors are open for early voting.  I walk in to about a dozen poll workers chatting behind the counter, and about a dozen voting machines ready and waiting (no one else there).  So I walk up to the counter, pull out my driver's license ("voter ID" required, of course).  They look me up, find which precinct I have been moved to (again), then ask which party I wanted to vote in. I enunciated clearly "The Democratic party, please", got the keycard for the machine, then cast my votes.  In and out in less than 10 minutes.

Amazing how smoothly voting runs in the "right" areas of town.  I suppose one advantage to electronic voting is that they can't pull that lame-ass excuse about not having the absentee ballots available.

The Golden Rule isn't so golden if you don't bother polishing it with every soul you meet. (-6.5,-4.1)
