    with a dash of "vividly" and a side of "we can only hope".

    But until Super PACs & Citizens United get rescinded and investing heavy dollars into Healthcare & Education Reform becomes sexy, the grip that the richest hold over our country's direction and, increasingly (disturbingly) over our government's ability to meet society's most pressing needs as well as those just over the horizon (e.g., the multiculturalization of America is not currently being balanced by a gameplan to get more black and Latino kids to graduate high school and obtani college degrees), I fear the economic America of 1950, 1960, and 1970–to say nothing of the far more inequitable wages for women and people of color at that time–will not return.

    I believe in the long-term arc of hope.
