Are you kidding me? Names, can I get names? Reminds me of the time just a couple of years back a college student came up and asked if I knew where he could take an IQ test. Before I could stop myself I told him that he was holding one in his hand – a lit cigarette.

Nicotine's an addiction, not a sign of intelligence or lack thereof. I'm sure there are geniuses who smoke cigarettes. In fact, I know of several.

But I suppose those without this particular addiction are all just perfect, like you, hmmm?

he was an un-addicted, college teen who was just picking it up because it made him feel like he fit in – in this day and age with all the info out there. And even then, as I hinted, I half regretted the come-back. I am old enough that my wife and I quit smoking the day the Surgeon General's report was announced in 1965. So, yes I am an ex-smoker. As to perfection – far from it but in my effort to improve I do try to resist any temptation to turn written comments into personal zingers even if I occasionally slip up verbally.

It is certainly one of my many imperfections!

            - I wasn't clear enough, another of my faults. My wife says that half the time I'm too wordy and the other half leave people hanging as to what I'm getting at.
Only a couple of times on Kos have I gotten peeved though - one was the use of my least favorite phrase: "people like you". I couldn't even answer.

Pipes & cigars: not really.  You don't inhale, and the tobacco isn't goosed-up with ammonia and other chemicals to make the nicotine more bio-available.

Commercial cigarettes: sure, because they're treated to produce the nicotine equivalent of crack.

Regulate to remove the ammonia and suchlike from cigarettes and they will rapidly become only mildly habit-forming, like coffee.

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
