      being used over America.

People get killed in all kinds of ways - perhaps we should outlaw anything that kills people.. Cars, Dogs, other people....

But... Jim, lets say for instance that you are right and there is a massive conspiracy by the Government to spy on us. Who in the political system would be against this? Let's just say for argument sake that this is all on Barak Obama (and I am not making that argument), so who running right now would not allow this to happen? And would that person be someone to vote for? Would Mitt Romney be that person? Anyone else?

      •  Our political class is insane. (12+ / 0-)

Not as hyperbole, but in the sense that thinking your shoes are magic and will fly you to Alpha Centuri is insane.

We suffer a Pathocracy in this time. Madness is endemic in the Republican Party, and has a fair hold on the Democratic Party.

Example: The War Formerly Known as on Terror creates the very enemies who provide the rationale for the destruction of the Bill of Rights at home; at the same moment crushing the economy at home which is used as a rationale to diminish the social safety net.

You're not going to say these things aren't happening, right?

I'd think everyone knows by now that we aren't seriously represented by our government, as they are mainly dependent on Big Money for their elections and their future careers once they leave office.

Our political system is dead. There are very few democratic outcomes in our democracy. The decisions to track, intimidate, and chill ordinary people in the course of pursuing their rights is a trans-partisan affair.

That this is happening is undeniable.

A lot of this started under Bush, has been entrenched and enhanced by Obama, and will likely be furthered by whatever party calls the shots after the 2012 election. Same with protecting the bankers. Both parties do it, the citizenry suffers.

It's possible to understand that the Republicans are like a rabid dog, while at the same moment seeing that the conventions of our entire political system are insane and against the public interest.

We're Democrats, we can walk and chew gum. Real politics isn't "either/or," it's "this fact, plus that fact, plus that fact, and so, on balance here we are."

The latter is what "reality-based" refers to.

PS: And with drones, put aside for a minute that police are talking about weaponizing the domestic ones: you're looking at a serious chilling of free action by the people. Then, on top of that, you're talking about harming them.

What the hell kind of free country is that, where planes fly over your backyard to check you out, where assembling for redress gets you attacked from the air? As if citizens were the enemy.

The Internet is just the tail of the Corporate Media dog.
