    The have some really knowledgeable people who know how laws get made and what issues are winnable.  Then they can call on a lot of people to do election work.  You will not find the Dem party using any of it's resources in a primary campaign, but WFP can go in blazing.  They can be the Democratic wing of the Democratic party, and make a difference.  I haven't registered with them, but I support them in other ways.  

    Here's an idea: how about the people run the government and the corporations can line up for whatever we leave for them.
