Doesnt Michigan have a large Muslim population? In the Detroit area?

And since George W. Bush, they've voted Democratic by a large margin. But that also means they're not the swing voters in that district, and doesn't therefore address my question.

And how racist or tolerant are swing voters in this district toward Muslims or people with Muslim-sounding names?
Is rather open-ended and hard to actually quantify, particularly in a newly drawn district.  I think given what little you do know about the district - that it's suburban, that it's rather wealthy, that the former one had a PVI of 0, etc... - that you and others should probably give it the benefit of the doubt in terms of voting for or against this guy because of his perceived ethnicity.  From the idle speculation I've read on her, thus far, you'd think this guy ws running in some rural district in the South.
