    because a clerical error removed the tribe from the list of recognized tribes.  The error has never been corrected.

      I've read histories where they were left off of a BIA list in the 1980s of recognized tribes thereby leading to a bureaucratic termination.  And an utterly unjust one.

      The Winnemem Wintu leader, Colleen Sisk Franco, learned the Wintu doctoring language from a Winnemem doctor Frances Jones.  SO these folks are truly Indians, not fakers.

      The Forest Service seems to be stuck in bureaucratic literalism.  They will only accomidate federally recognized tribes.  They won't budge - and maybe legally they feel they cannot budge.
