  •  "Pussy," Bush replied (none)
At the Republican National Convention in 1988,
George W. Bush was asked by a Hartford Courant
reporter about what he and his father talked about
when they weren't talking about politics.
    "Pussy," Bush replied.

How many diaries have you seen saying that Bush is not fit to run this country based on this horrific statement he made nearly two decades ago?  Or have you seen diaries and comments arguing his unfitness based upon his present actions and ideology?

"Both sides" don't do it.  I've seen comments on Laura Bush's childhood accident in which a schoolmate was killed, but I've not seen calls to discredit her husband's administration because of it.  The vast, vast majority of commentary focuses on present actions, revealing prior actions if those actions comport with present ideology.  Example: in the Gannon/Guckert diaries, I've seen commenters admonish others about bringing up his (far more recent) tax lien.

    •  But, they do (none)
Yes, they do. Your memory is selective. The left used Bush's supposed drug history against him. I am in Texas and there is no question the left tried to scandalize both of them for her accident.
Clarence Thomas was one of the most highly respected jurrists at the time of his selection and he was "Borked" based some alleged past activities.
The Clinton camp were masters at it.

Yes, the right does it too. Which was my point from the beginning.

    •  Laura's free pass (none)
can you imagine the 24/7 outcry if it was discovered that Hillary had been the perp in a vehicular homicide as a young woman?  And never paid any public price for it whatsoever?  Not a day in jail?  Completely swept under the rug?  Look at the fright-wing froth about the Rose Law Firm files, and then just imagine how they would respond to similar news in Hillary's past.

IOKIYAR even extends to homicide.  And they dare to call themselves the party of morality.  What BS.

He that is without sin, let him cast the first stone.  (John 8:7b)  They wrap themselves in the scriptures all the time, let them choke on that one until they get some perspective and learn some real Christian mercy.

Politics is like driving. To go backward, put it in R. To go forward, put it in D.
