It also is possible that the presence of Barbara Mallory-Caraway could play spoiler and prevent Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson from achieving a primary victory today. Despite all her flaws (and they are many), Mallory-Caraway has been running a strong under-the-radar ground game that could peel off a lot of low information and religious voters that would have supported Rep. Johnson in the past. Taj Clayton's base probably will be better educated voters that are tired of the Royce West/John Wiley Price/South Dallas Pastors machine. I doubt that Clayton's and Mallory-Caraway voters are cannibalizing each other as the alternative to Rep. Johnson.

My prediction is that Johnson will squeak out a primary victory today due to the goodwill that she had built up in the District over the years as well as her record as a stalwart progressive. Hopefully, we will see more of Clayton in the future.
