  •  Not just the Crusades (9+ / 0-)

The initiation of global colonialism by western European Christians was a religious enterprise from almost Day One, when the Pope divided up the rest of the world between Spain and Portugal along "the Line of Demarcation".  That process proceeded much more effectively than did the Crusades against Islam in its Golden Age.

were horrific. The empires were much worse in terms of the sheer number of people they overwhelmed.

America changed the tactic slightly by using our military and CIA to overcome or just threaten small nations, so the Corporation People could move in and take over the countries' governments, resources, wealth, etc.

Then we got other wealthy countries to help out with the IMF and World Bank joining Wall Street, the Reserve and financial giants like Goldman-Sachs, to foist financial deceptions that brought the countries to further poverty and ruin.

The Dominionists are a new variation of militarized religion, while The Family is bizarre theology spreading vulture capitalism. The later merges 1% Authoritarian, Social Dominant Leaders with an unrecognizable version of Christianity to support their mission.  While they are two distinct groups, there are many connections and shared goals.

First, the historical precedents for both were based in nation states. In order to get an empire/country of their own - with a military that can intimidate worldwide- they have to turn the secular USA into a theocracy they can control.

The degree to which both operate in secrecy and under radar is very effective and unnerving. They have developed and successfully used extremely organized, sophisticated, and innovative tactics to increase their infiltration of the military, government, corporations, etc.

The possibility of a military coup was discussed upthread. My concern is that they are far too aware that could not be done here like it has been in other countries through out history.

They would not put a military person in charge - it simply could not work in America. The false idealization of our exceptionalism would finally have an honest outlet. Not doing so would help promote a word (or Orwellian phrase) other than coup to describe what happened.

They could not use the American military - the backlash would start in the ranks.

Special ops units that are all Dominionists? For key government figures.

Outsourcing control of American citizens to Xe (or a better named subsidiary)? Message: Resistance is futile.

I first learned about the major players and their missions, books/comments and activities in '88 when a local church ran a 4 part seminar on all the stuff various watch dog groups had discovered and put together. Since then the reports, trends, other signs and my own experiences have only reinforced how dangerous these groups potentially are. I heard "This is America, that can't happen here" at the beginning, and it is still  prevalent in too many minds.

Given the degree of police violence towards the protestors, it is difficult not to suspect some really ugly confrontations ahead. Yesterday I at least got some comic relief. New resistance weapon, shhh

The synopsis of Star Wars: Incredibly powerful, tech heavy empire is brought down by cute, fuzzy, low tech bear like creatures.
