But here's the thing -- through Election Day, we need to have a single purpose in mind. I won't say you can't bitch about the Democrats or the president, but if you don't like Obama, you're going to like Mitt Romney even less. So what do you think you are accomplishing besides satiating some apparent need for absolute purity? Feel free to unload on Obama the day after he is reelected. But for now, seriously, what do you think you're accomplishing? If Obama offends you so much that you consider him irredeemable, then become a Green and go somewhere else, because you're pretty much hopeless and a waste of everyone else's time here.

As for you Roxers -- being an aggressive dick doesn't help build support and excitement for the president. He's got a record that you can't change, and a campaign that you can't control. Keep it positive, and keep it productive. That's how you help a campaign. Because when you are a dick, people will hate the campaign just to spite you. It's human nature -- if a dick is for something, we want to be against it. Don't play into that dynamic.
It's entirely possible just to give an opposing argument and leave all the dickishness behind, like kos also asked.
Some people have, but a whole lot haven't.

because its facts are skewed and in some cases inaccurate, and it draws a false equivalency.

As it turns out, Obama's plan promotes more tax cuts as the cure, once again.

Please, tell me the three major differences in approach to economic policy between Bush and Obama.  I am genuinely interested to hear what people would cite for that list.

Are not here to discuss policy, only personalities.  It makes Obama has a sad, so they attack.  Wash rinse repeat.

the meta irony is just too much.

anyhoo, bush brought us his ridiculous tax cuts; obama has been trying to get them repealed.

bush went directly after social security; obama has not.

the stimulus had all kinds of weatherization, etc. programs that not only put people to work, but save energy and money in the long run.

                    there's three differences.

To discuss policy?  Lol is right.

Your first two points are untrue.  Obama signed the tax cut extension.  Also, the only reason the "grand bargain" also known as cuts in Medicare and social security didn't happen is because republicans are crazy and said no even to that because it contained a dribble of revenue.  He could have thrown in free car washes to every republican for life and they would have said no.  But he still thinks he can work with them:
                      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...

"I believe that if we're successful in this election, when we're successful in this election, that the fever may break, because there's a tradition in the Republican Party of more common sense than that," Obama said at an event held at the Bachelor Farmer restaurant in Minneapolis, which is owned by the sons of Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (D)
                      Fucking delusional.

Oh and the stimulus was 1/3 tax cuts, which was a sop to republicans so he could have bipartisanship that would never materialize.  Weatherization wass a throw-in to make it look like he cares about the environment.

What to you think the odds are that he calls for more stimulus before the election?  After?  The odds are greater that he restarts the cat food commission, which is what he really wants: austerity with the fig leaf of fairness.

          •  I understand completely the problem w the diary (6+ / 0-)

I'm just presenting the whole bit from kos.

By your logic in the context of kos' statement, that it's okay to be a dick because a diarist is skewed and in some cases inaccurate (interesting!), it would be okay for someone to say O=B if indeed a policy did match up in some cases accurately. I'm pretty sure people can find one or two or three things that do.

Anyway, carry on. Just dropping in to see how it was going and now I'm dropping out.
