    From what I see you are saying America has been unviable from the start and we need to scrap the entire system
    ...from the industrial age forward, which changed the world's orientation globally. And not "scrap the system" but update the constitution to reflect the new world and protect the welfare of the people.

    But I don't believe anything at all can be done at this point. We are long past course correction that might be based on modern considerations in our antique national charter. The America that emerges over the next two or three years will be an America that we have voted for, democratically, over the years. An America that we truly deserve, having moved forward consciously (presumably)

    I certainly don't think President Obama can be faulted for this. Or President Bush either, for that matter. Not to say they are equivalent -- but they both have that one thing in common -- they stood at the helm of the ship of state. The ship, however, has long been on a set course, economically -- and it is working as initially envisioned and designed for the 1700's.
