but they are coming damn close. They still have demographics on their side in certain swing states but another bad jobs report could really complicate things. They need to get their act together, get on message (looking at your Cory Booker et al) and come up with a real plan for the future.

      very persuasive
too bad Obama seems more interested in kowtowing to monied interests. (and promoting his Rambo image - see NYTimes front page above the fold - the secret kill list article had to have been published with the blessing of POTUS)

He also did not have to contend with a 24-hour news cycle, Super Pacs, or a Republican Party like we have today.

Progressives who believe national candidates can win elections without raising funds from monied interests are delusional and help to make it harder to oust Republicans.

    •  I'm not assuming good jobs reports in coming (10+ / 0-)

months--it's not just the bad U3/U6 figures, it's the downward adjustment in new hires.  Plus, it's hard to see a favorable finish to the eurozone crisis, and, as we've been told for many years now, we live in a globalized economy.

Booker is far from the biggest concern.  When the likes of WJC are saying positive things about Bain Capital, you have a major problem.  I mean, why not just endorse Willard:

"I think he had a good business career," Clinton told guest host Harvey Weinstein, a movie mogul who is one of Obama's top fundraisers. "There's no question that in terms of getting up and going to the office and, you know, basically performing the essential functions of the office, a man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold."

Adding that he has "friends" in the private equity business, Clinton suggested it was dangerous for Democrats to go after Romney's record at Bain Capital—adding that in private equity, "like anything else you try, you don't always succeed" in saving companies or making them more productive.

"I don't think that we ought to get into the position where we say this is bad work," Clinton said. "This is good work."

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?
