    Yikes. What if?

Republicans have been deliberately working to destroy the economy in order to defeat Obama by cutting spending and government jobs. (It would be harder for them to get away with this if Obama wouldn't have spent so much time begging those Republicans to let him pass legislative ideas that originated out of Republican think tanks.)

In any case, if Romney wins, I can very well imagine Republicans increasing government spending to get the economy moving again (Think Jude Wanniski's "Two Santa Clauses" Theory) although I EXPECT them to go full throttle with austerity measures. By the same token, I also suspect Obama will pursue austerity measures if he gets re-elected.

"I wish I could tell you, in the midst of all of this, that President Obama was waging the kind of fight against these draconian Republican proposals that the American people would like to see. He is not." -- Senator Bernie Sanders

People have been making that argument that the Republicans may stop with the cutting govnt spending to get the economy going if they regain power but I don't see it happening. Not with the Tea Party and Paul Ryan. I believe it when Ryan says that have a mandate if they win. The very conservative base is not going to take anything less than cutting the whole government in half.
