  •  Slow growth & high deficits (0+ / 0-)

    The country faces two problems.

If the government spends more to speed up economic growth and reduce the unemployment rate, then the deficit rises.

If the government reduces spending to reduce the deficit then these austerity measures slow growth and increase the unemployment rate.

How does the country attack both problems at the same time?

The government must close tax loopholes and increase rates on the rich.  That raises revenue and moves money from savings (rich) into consumption. With additional revenue the can then reduce the deficit and reduce tax rates for the middle class, increasing consumption.

This is pretty simple economics.  Only problem is that republicans block at all costs any tax increases on corporations or the rich.

Obama has the right idea, but republicans are obstructing it.

      the future deficit issues...

but we NEED to resuscitate the economy or we're all up shit's creek, and without paddles...

The Republicans think that we're SO stupid that we will NOT notice a lot of our economic slowdown was due to their policies (think Bush 43 trax cuts and wars off the books) and their obstruction in Congress since Boner took the speakership in 2010.

We need to prove them wrong, and VOTE THEM INTO A MINORITY SO SMALL so they cannot do further harm to this nation...

For a better America, vote the GOP out of office whenever and wherever possible and as soon (and as often) as possible!
