    It all depends on what you're willing to pay for storage and what sort of peaking capacity you have.

    Note that intermittency doesn't just exist on the supply side; it also exists on the demand side by default, to a pretty significant degree.  So the problem is already built into the system; intermittents just amplify it (although solar is kinda nice because it tends to roughly match the demand curve in most places)
