headed up to the house. Apparently a mallard duck has a nest on the tule berm across from our gas dock. DH and buddies were hanging on the porch when there was quite the disturbance. A raccoon thought it would get an easy meal of ducklings. Mama duck had a different thought. DH says that she was beating the raccoon with her wings and trying to shoo the ducklings (itty bitty ones) into the water. The babies made it to the water and mama followed. Mr. Raccoon lost out. I sooo wish I would have seen that! None of us had a clue there was a nest over there!

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.
