    this happen. Too often sadly. I looks from here like being caught in the balance point of a standing wave, where they can't get all the way through to the calmer water past the rapids. Maybe having been on the outside for so long, and then discovering others who were outside, too, it's frightening to finish and walk away from that community and support, as well as the perceived self-identity.

    For the geeks and Trek people- Remember the beginning of Deep Space Nine, when Sisko kept flashing back to his wife's death and the Prophets kept asking him, 'Why do you exist here?'. He was stuck at that trauma, he hadn't been able to move through and past it. I feel like a lot of people get stuck like that, in their own ways.
