  •  Well, I was #1823 at 5:30 (0+ / 0-)

My ward has 2550 registered voters. There were about 20 people in line waiting to vote, 6 registering and 3 election monitors. They have not counted the absentee ballots yet, which I was told are numerous. I was serenaded on my walk by a large Badger-like creature and friends with Barrett signs on the busy median, with the constant refrain of democobeeps.

Seriously, I was so overcome with emotion walking through the neighborhood to my son's school, that I really had to pull it together just to walk in the door to do something I've done every stnkin' election for 30 years now --VOTE! It has never meant as much to me before as it did today. And regardless of what happens tonight, I have to say my biggest fear has been totally obliterated -- Wisconsin showed up!

We went downtown for supper and did a lap around the capitol square to see what was shakin'. As always: music, solidarity, joy, determination. How the repubs see this creative engagement in our democracy as something to be despised perplexes perplexes me.

"I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are?" Barry Goldwater
