  •  Exactly. (6+ / 0-)

We have one in our family--my elder SiL. She had to spend the last couple of months of pregnancy in bed and delivered by C Section, so she's rabidly anti-abortion. Only reason she's for teachers' unions is that's how she earns her living, pro-employment equality and salaries because she's divorced 3 times and has to  pay her bills.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.

I don't remember a time when I wasn't pro-choice, but when I was pregnant (with a planned, wanted pregnancy) and realized very personally how much is involved in giving over your body to having a child, I developed a moral certainty that abortion should be available to every woman who needs it. Because it's hard enough on your health and career when it's something you want very badly.

I have to wonder if your SIL ever imagines the same scenario - 2 months of bedrest followed by major surgery, but for a woman who doesn't want to be pregnant and doesn't have another income to draw on (and likely no pay for time off)?

I really don't understand people sometimes.
