a boyfriend. For hours. When my brother who was living with me at the time got home from midnight shift, I was screaming for him to call the cops. He did. The jerk got in his truck and left. The big man HS football star - ran from my brother. He knew what he did. After it was over... My mother told me, your dad did that to me back in the day, get over it. It was the most hurtful thing my mother ever told me. Of course, I was 23 and filed charges against him anyway. All the way to court, all the way to him being classified a sex offender. I went to counseling. Learned a lot of things about control freak men and relationships. But did not learn how to deal with it. The court did not help at all. I will never forget giving testimony, my hand holding the microphone was shaking so bad folks probably thought I had tourettes. But I did it anyway. Decided that you can't just do that to somebody and get away with it.  Had thoughts of suicide for almost a year. Got a drunk driving. Got no support from the court about what had happened 6 months earlier. Could NOT stand to see films that depicted violence against women - would literally flee. It has been a long time since 1983. You hope that things have changed. I believe they are changing.

I did not mean for this comment to be part of the record for the Penn State victims. But as I am typing this - please go ahead and add it. Abuse comes in many forms. And sometimes, the institutions we think will protect us, including our own family do not. In my mothers case, it was considered normal in the late 50's for a guy to hit his wife. Minds are changing. People are recognizing behaviour such as grooming.

To the Penn State Victims - I believe you. I stand with you. Truth wins over power. Light wins over darkness. What you will endure will be tough. But it will be worth it.
Peace and Healing be with you.

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.
