    so it can be done.   Important that each person take responsibility for their own consumption.  In the near future meat eating will be much like cig smoking, highly taxed and stigmatized.   I agree if true cost of meat was included in price that would help with reducing consumption.

      as it is reduced US buying power. If Chinese consumption of livestock grows as fast (or faster) than American consumption decreases, the methane problem will still be there, and probably also rampant use of antibiotics in cattle feed.

      The scariest issue about methane is whether melting permafrost and warming ocean sediments will soon begin releasing huge amounts of it.

      rising steadily.  Health concerns  or economic pressures in the US don't make much difference in the overall trend.
