    during the Carter years with the beginning of deregulation. We did not understand the harm it would cause and we were convinced that no one would get hurt. From Reagan through Clinton we continued to deregulate. And then we were pushed over the edge over the past 5 years. There we unforeseen consequences to deregulation and seems we have yet to learn the full lesson. Which means that our suffering will endure a while longer.

    America is exceptional because of its belief in American Exceptional-ism. And  this is exceptionally bad. Bad for us and bad for the world. Bad because we do stupid things and bad because we justify actions of ours that we would condemn in others.
