    wants them to prosper. It's not a message of charity, of love and giving anymore. You watch that Joel Osteen for a few minutes with his smile plastered on telling them God wants.....whatever.... riches for them....it's creepy to me.

      principles. It cherry picks and weaves Old and New Testament ideas into something that allows Evangelicals to feel a smug sense of entitlement. I suppose Max Weber's "Protestantism and the Spirit of Capitalism" and the concept of predestination borrowed from John Calvin have helped.

      Yet if something bad happens to one of their own, the go on about how that person doesn't deserve their fate, unlike all the unworthy sinners. Completely illogical and selfishly senseless.

        and that was the main message imparted to me. (Despite all that fire and brimstone preaching which left it's guilt trails in my brain, until I ferreted them out that is!)
