The word "whining" is not a welcome word in my household. I have the same feeling about using the term "temper tantrum" in a setting that involves the use of words and not physical violence. Isn't that the way we teach our children to resolve their differences? Tell them to use their words?

Personally I have never had to advocate that with my daughters. They are both very formidable in a calm reasoned verbal argument. And they both know the meaning of the word vagina. I remember hearing from the day care teachers who tried to use some children's word in a discussion designed for new siblings. MY two year old daughter spoke up and said "No that's the UMBILICAL CORD."
