I might in the market for a decent gaming laptop. I'm increasingly disenchanted with my MacBook.

    •  It used to be that Toshiba made the best laptops.. (4+ / 0-)

...but, I got a lemon last time, so I don't know anymore.  Toshiba is a leader in high end laptops, though.  HP makes good stuff still (until Meg Whitman destroys that, too).  Acer seems to be one of the better brands at the moment.  These things change quickly, unfortunately.  Brand quality shifts by the day, it seems, so take my words with many grains of salt.  Buy from a place that has a good return policy.

has served me well during my undergrad years.  It still serves me well even as I type these words.

At least not from their site.

Just go to and buy something that is highly rated by the buyers there, and which is a good price.  Forget the company, it's the individual product that counts, and Mac and gaming should obviously never even be used in the same sentence.

Just anecdotal evidence, but Ive had nothing but good luck twice in a row with Sony Vaio multimedia laptops since 2007. Use it for a lot of heavy professional media stuff.
