I'm no photography expert, but it appears to be one of the two: carte de visite

    Timeline:

        Appeared: 1859
        Peaked: 1863-1877
        Waned: 1877-1882

    Characteristics

Image on thin paper, mounted on card stock
Early cards very thin, became thicker about 1870, and even more about 1880
Most exhibit the classic sepia tone

    Common Size

        2 3/8" x 4 1/4"

    or cabinet card.
    Timeline:

        Appeared: 1866
        Peaked: 1875-1895
        Waned: 1896-1900

    Characteristics

Image on thin paper, mounted on card stock
Early cards were sepia (brown tone), later photos were silver like tones and rich blacks
Edges can be beveled, gilted, or scalloped

    Common Size

        6 1/2" x 4 1/4"

Hope that helps. Good to see ya, btw.

It is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.
