  •  Call me a chicken, but I've stopped posting on FB (0+ / 0-)

for very similar reasons. Before that, I discovered that you can block other people's posts without actually unfriending them. (I learned about this when one of my relatives confessed that he'd blocked me!) Also, I friended the local Democratic party and let them speak for me. They post 5 or 6 times a day!

If some of my relatives, neighbors, etc., are saying negative things about my party on their pages, I don't see their posts, and I don't care. Now, if I want to see the lastest pictures and videos of the grandchildren, I go to their moms' pages instead of wading through the unoffensive but boring things some of my FB friends post on mine.

FB was a great way for me to reconnect with some female friends of my youth, especially after they'd move far away and acquired new last names. Now that I have, we're communicating by email. FB? I'm over it.

To ignore bigotry is to fake ignorance--to enable hatred to spread.  Then again, to fight windmills is just plain stupid.  My motto has always been to keep it small--Facebook is showing me why small is better.  The more people you befriend, the better the chances you have elevated blood pressure.
