states militarily.  If an armed force of illegal aliens attacks the state of Arizona, it has every right to defend itself militarily. No one has suggested that states should not have the right to raise militias to do so.

We're talking about enforcement of a civil statute of the United States.  The presence of undocumented workers in a state does not constitute a military invasion that would justify a state military response, and the states have no authority to use force against persons in violation of civil statutes of the United States.

It is a federal matter and only the federal government has the authority to address it.

The truth is that it is physically impossible to find, arrest and deport 11 million people.  Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot, a liar, or both.  You couldn't do it with the entire federal workforce, and oh yes, the same people crying about illegal immigration are the same ones decimating the civil service.

Another truth is that Barack Obama has deported more people than Bush did in half the time, but he has used his limited resources to deport dangerous criminals, rather than piss in the ocean like Bush did.

Arizona would not have enacted this ridiculous law if John McCain had been elected, no matter what he did or didn't do about immigration.  As far as Arizona is concerned, the black guy in the white house was all the justification they needed.

Scalia is simply trying to resurrect the Confederate States of America from the bench.  His histrionics are directed toward the government that won the civil war.  If it weren't illegal immigration it would be something else.  Like a national healthcare system.

Because stupid people are so sure they're smart, they often act smart, and sometimes even smart people are too stupid to recognize that the stupid people acting smart really ARE stupid.
